Welcome to West 11!

An ideal way to spend a Saturday (apart from getting a few extra cozy hours in bed) could include strolling through the nooks and crannies of London, pushing your way through Oxford Street trying to squeeze in a successful shopping spree or it could just be as simple as Netflix & Chill. Whatever  you decide, it is your day to unwind a little!

Today I want to give you a little snippet of Portobello Road, which has been one of my absolute favourite spots in London for many many years. It is on a Saturday morning when the famous Portobello market is already up and running ready for the buzz to last ’til the evening. Though the market is open weekly, there is always something new to discover or simply something that you can’t help but revisit!

Boutiques run all along Notting Hill Gate up to the end of Portobello Road. You can spend hours and hours just walking through and stopping almost every 2 seconds to check out what each store, vendor or stall has to offer! There is a huge variety of old and new, a never ending selection of fashion, books and music shops… and most importantly, there are multiple places to stop and grab a bite to eat; cafe’s and sweet shops to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Get ready for a handful of photos I managed to capture! These are just a few of my favourites.

I love stopping by vendors like these as there is always something cheeky or rather clever written on these plates! Always tempting to buy one or two for the house.

Pastel coloured houses are London staples. You will find a few of these around the area… usually very popular for those perfect Instagram pictures.

You can also find a variety of goodies to choose from, whether it be dainty jewellery, real leather goods or these beautiful (and what appear to be) water colour paintings. Perfect to spruce up your wall!

And then come the desserts… MUST. TRY. TO. RESIST… (but always fails miserably.)

The Hummingbird Bakery sells the most incredible cakes! Their red velvet and cookies & cream cupcakes are just too good for words (or it could just be that I’m easily won over by cake). You can simply stop by to grab a quick dessert and a coffee, or pop online to order their perfectly designed cakes for any occasion!

Chocolate Gelato has become my go-to during these hot summer days! I’m not one to gravitate towards ice cream right away (sorry)… BUT, if chocolate gelato is involved… count me in!

These camera’s I believe are from the 1960’s. I love seeing vintage objects like these, as it amazes me how much everything has evolved from then!

Portobello Market in itself has incredible personality. You walk along and every step leads you to a new, authentic vibe. Every vendor you pass will be selling different things from different places. You will find yourself starting from a food stall and ending on a clothing one. You can learn and discover so much if you really take the time to look at what is around you. When the market is closed, don’t worry! Shops and restaurants still continue to run along the road and are open daily.

And of course, we mustn’t forget to include a “quick” outfit post!

I got both the grey jumper and leggings from Uniqlo! It’s quite unusual for me to pop into that store and walk out with anything… but a handful of visits later… we hit jackpot! These two pieces are very easy to throw on and are comfortable to wear… ’cause remember, comfort is everything. To add to that comfort vibe, I wore my navy Stan Smith shoes from Adidas. Finally, to top it all off, I found a great pair of glasses in a small shop in Portobello that I love to pop on to complete a look.

Also, I am aware that the colours here are quite dark and autumnal… which yes, I still wore on a summers day, because yes… I am ready for Fall 🙂

Jumper: Uniqlo

Leggings: Uniqlo

Shoes: Adidas

Glasses: Portobello

I hope you enjoyed coming along with me!

Have a wonderful weekend and I will see you next time!
